Flashing Pads

In the best case scenario, the light will have exposed contact pads which can be used to communicate with the controller chip in a non-invasive way. These flashing pads can come in a variety of layouts, unfortunately, but there are a few common ones.

These pads may be arranged in one or more rows of varying amounts.

Note

Depending on how the driver board was made and how it is being held, the pads may appear “upside down” compared to this list. For example a “4 over 2” is almost certainly the same as a “2 over 4” layout, just rotated. Check any labels on the pads to confirm how they should be oriented.
